After weeks of radio
education on how to liberate oneself from debt and its consequences, the
Founder and Herbalist at the Akanayo Herbal Clinic has schooled the general
public on knowing their exact day of birth.
Speaking on Happy FM’s
Nsem Pii, hosted by Nyansa Boakwa, he said that the periods of greetings in a
day, tweets of some birds at a particular time of the day and many other signs tell which day one was born.
Dr Akanayo said that the
Whiteman’s calendar has corrupted and changed the natural order of how a day
follows the next day. “It amazes me when people greet ‘good morning’ when it is
12:00am. Whenever there is darkness, a day cannot set in uninvited and vice
versa,” he noted.
He said that 12:00am,
on the natural calendar, does not usher in a new day. “It is when the night gives
way to dawn that a new day is born.”
Dr Akanayo noted that a
buried half piece of earthenware could be used to determine the day in which one was
born. "Dig for the half piece of the earthenware, collect clot smoke found in traditional kitchen. wash the earthenware and smear the smoke on the it. hold water in your mouth and pour it into the earthenware. Depending on the day you are doing this, say 'if I was born on this day, may the water in this earthenware go dry and if it is not the day I was born, may the water remain in it," he said. He added that this is a clear sign of identifying the day in which one was born and noted that it is not fetish.
He bemoaned the modern Ghanaian's total "overthrow" of traditional knowledge for the stead of the west. He did not downplay the knowledge of the Whiteman but rather the rate at which the ordinary is avoiding the sense of their forefathers.
